frightening poll results

http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=54018

The poll results discussed in this article are scary, but not surprising. Every non-Muslim man, woman and child here in America should open their eyes, look at information like this, and ponder long and hard about the implications. For me, the highlites of this poll are:

1. 84% of all Muslims surveyed for this British poll said that they felt they had been treated fairly by British society and that they have more in common with non-Muslims in the UK than with Muslims in other parts of the world. That's good news.
2. Despite the feelings of that large majority, 40% of Muslims aged 16-24 living in England said they would prefer to live under sharia law in the UK, and 36% of the younger Muslims believe in the death penalty for those who convert away from Muslim to another religion. That's bad news.
3. 13% of young Muslims surveyed said they "admired" al-Qaida and other organizations that were prepared to "fight the West." That's frightening news!

Chew on those numbers for a moment, and then read the following quote from the article:

Foreign policy was shown to be a key issue for British Muslims, with 58 percent of respondents saying many of the world's problems were "a result of arrogant Western attitudes." Their knowledge of foreign affairs was sketchy, with only one in five knowing that Mahmoud Abbas was head of the Palestinian Authority.
Munira Mirza, the leading author of the report, said the results suggested UK government policy was to blame for sharpening divisions between Muslims and non-Muslims and suggested the government should engage Muslims as citizens, not through their religious identity.
She said: "The emergence of a strong Muslim identity in Britain is, in part, a result of multicultural policies implemented since the 1980s which have emphasized difference at the expense of shared national identity and divided people along ethnic, religious and cultural lines.

How does that taste, freedom-loving Americans? Would I be correct in saying that most radical Muslims are fairly ignorant of world affairs, and that their ignorance is a principle reason behind their hatred for the West (and especially America) and that we can talk ourselves blue in the face to these monstrous extremists without ever dissuading them from their murderous agenda? As a freedom-loving, peace-loving society, "we the people" of the United States need to wake up and demand that our military and political leaders wisely unite in a declared, full-scale war against radical Islam. The alternative is the destruction of a peaceful Western culture and a return of the world to the Dark Ages.

all i can say to this is, please forgive us God!

a smorgasbord of conservative truth

a fractured fairy tale from the simple mind of a conservative

Once upon a time, in the land of Oz, there lived two little girls. They were typical little 3rd graders in most ways, although everyone said that they were wise beyond their years.

One hot summer day, the two little girls decided to open a lemomade stand on the corner of their street. Their lemonade was special, because they used freshly squeezed lemons, and it was delicious beyond belief! They sold their lemonade for 50 cents a cup, and made quite a tidy profit their first day. In fact, they made such a nice profit, and received so many compliments on the quality of their lemonade, that they decided to sell lemonade every day. Each and every day, they had many satisfied customers and they made a good sum of money.

All was not happy, though. There were other children in the neighborhood who were jealous of the two little girls. These other children were jealous because the two little girls now had "walking around money" and they didn't. That wasn't fair! Now understand, these other children could have opened up lemonade stands if they wanted to. There were no restrictions, so anybody who actually wanted to work, could work. The other children, however, didn't want to work. Hot summer days were good for swimming in the local pool, and playing baseball, and riding bikes, and so many other fun things. They didn't want to work! That didn't stop them from still being jealous, though.

The other children plotted and they schemed, and this is the plan they came up with. They went to their Mommies and Daddies, who oversaw the neighborhood, and threw a temper tantrum. The children complained about how they couldn't compete with the lemonade made by the two little girls because those two girls had sole access to the best lemons. This wasn't true, but why let the truth get in the way of a good temper tantrum? The children complained that their teachers hadn't done a good enough job teaching them how to make change, so they had no chance to be successful like the two little girls. They complained that the two little girls had set up their lemonade stand on the best corner, so all of the other children would never be able to find a spot suitable for selling lemonade. All of these complaints were untruthful, because the real truth was that all of the other children were just too lazy to start their own stand. Their Mommies and Daddies, however, believed their bogus complaints, and they resolved to Do Something!

The first thing the Mommies and Daddies did was to create a Lemonade Tax. For each 50 cent cup of lemonade the two little girls sold, they had to give 15 cents to the Mommies and Daddies. That revenue was then redistributed among all of the other children. The other children, though, were not satisfied. The other children said they wanted to work with the two little girls selling lemonade. They didn't really want to work, but that's what they said. The Mommies and Daddies told the two little girls that they were required to hire two of the other children, and split the after-tax profit from their lemonade business equally with them. So they did. But after the two little girls hired the two other children, the two other children became upset over the length of their work day. How could they go swimming and ride bikes and play baseball if they were selling lemonade all day? So the Mommies and Daddies told the two little girls that the other two children would only work half the day, but would still receive a full share of the after-tax profit.

This arrangement went on for several days, but still, the other children and the Mommies and Daddies were not satisfied. They began to resent the two little girls, because, even with all of the rules and requirements that had been placed on them, and despite the 15 cent tax being collected and redistributed, the two little girls worked harder and were still able to have more "walking around money" than the other children.

The other children began protesting every day on that street corner. The two little girls were greedy! They were not compassionate! They didn't care about "the little guy!" The protests continued and soon, the two little girls had to close the lemonade stand. All of the other children were joyous, because, even though that 15 cent tax dried up, their Mommies and Daddies still took care of them in other ways, and still allowed them to swim and ride bikes and play baseball and not have to worry about work all the livelong day.

And the two little girls? They were puzzled about why the other children didn't just open up their own lemonade stands! And so they moved on with their lives, unaware that they had just received their first lesson in The Way Things Work In This World.

would someone please help me understand?

Pequannock, New Jersey schools will begin conducting random alcohol tests on all students next week. School Superintendent Larrie Reynolds said, "There are more kids that die each year in alcohol-related traffic deaths than there are soldiers who have died in Iraq." Predictably, liberal organizations such as the ACLU are ramping up for The Great War of Litigation that they feel is necessary to "defend the Constitution." As always, my wooden conservative head is struggling to understand. Questions:

1. If more kids die each year from alcohol-related accidents than there are soldiers who have died in Iraq, why are liberals trying to end the war to save troops, yet also trying to squash testing that would help save kids?
2. If more kids die each year from alcohol-related accidents than die each year from gun-related accidents (it's true), why are liberals trying to un-Constitutionally terminate the 2nd Amendment to save small numbers of kids, yet are also trying to squash testing that would save large numbers of kids "in defense of the Constitution?"
3. How can liberals get up in the morning, look themselves in the mirror, and function adequately during the day when their thought processes are so obviously dysfunctional?

jerry falwell prompts me to ask a question

www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2007/1/26/160157.shtml

Jerry Falwell is a guy on the conservative side that I have never much cared for. His latest column, however, is excellent, and it did prompt a question to sprout in my wooden head. It has become pretty clear over the last 40 years or so that the popular culture, the mainstream media, our government, and liberalism in general have become increasingly hostile to Christianity. Hostile, and discriminatory too. There is only one openly Christian man I can think of that is actually celebrated by the intelligentsia, and that is Jimmy Carter. What is it about Jimmy Carter's "Christianity" that the intelligentsia loves so much? Something to think about!

What a breath of fresh air Ed Koch is! Although I don't happen to agree with him on most social issues, I recognize him as a man of character and integrity who has the moral clarity that is so sadly missing today in so many of our political leaders. His latest column is outstanding!

I'm going to spend a lot of time exposing Jimmy Carter for what he is-- a false teacher of a bogus gospel, a radical socialist, a hater of all things American (except for the freedom to spew his bile), a bitter opponent of the founding principles of our great republic, a friend of every murderous despot on earth, an accomplice in the rigging of elections that "freely elected" many of those despots, an anti-Semite, and a traitor to the United States who has given aid and comfort to our enemies during times of war and times of peace. This is a bad man, and it bothers me that he is given a free pass by so many people today.

Lee Hamilton, the former Democrat Congressman from Indiana is a good and decent man of character, but he is dangerously wrong in his beliefs about how to handle the increasing danger posed by Iran and Syria. The Deroy Murdoch column illustrates quite clearly that talking is futile. Islamic extremists don't want to talk with us. They want to kill us. We must be on guard against all of this appeasement talk coming from the left.

this week in history--apollo 1, challenger, and columbia

January 27, 1967----Gus Grissom, Ed White, and Roger Chaffee were killed in a launchpad fire in the Apollo Command Module during a preflight test at Cape Canaveral. The fire started at 6:31 P.M., probably from a short in a bunch of wires next to Grissom's seat. Because the module cabin had been filled with pure oxygen, the fire was out of control in a matter of seconds and the astronauts never had a chance to escape. See the link:

January 28, 1986----The space shuttle Challenger exploded 73 seconds after launch. All seven crew members were killed, including Christa McAuliffe, the first teacher ever chosen for a space mission. The following link will take you to the text of the speech Pres. Ronald Reagan made to the nation following the disaster:

February 1, 2003----The space shuttle Columbia disintegrated upon reentry into Earth's atmosphere, just 15 minutes before their scheduled landing. There were no survivors. The following link will take you to a NASA site dedicated to remembering the crew:

Who can separate us from Christ's love? Can trouble or hard times or harm or hunger? Can nakedness or danger or war?
No! In all these things we will do even more than win! We owe it all to Christ, who has loved us.
I am absolutely sure that not even death or life can separate us from God's love. Not even angels or demons, the present or the future, or any powers can do that. Not even the highest places or the lowest, or anything else in all creation can do that. Nothing at all can ever separate us from God's love because of what Christ Jesus our Lord has done.---

the danger of false teachers

http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070127/LIVING09/701270386/1111

Tom Ehrich is an Episcopal priest, writer and consultant. I have written about him and criticized him before, but never as strongly as I'm going to do right now. Mr. Ehrich is a false teacher, or, as John wrote in 1 John 2, an antichrist. Look at what John had to say on this: www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=69&chapter=2&version=65

You can read Mr. Ehrich's latest column, linked above from IndyStar.com, to see what I'm talking about. I have been reading the man's columns for months now, and, as far as I can tell, Mr. Ehrich believes the following:
1. God's Holy Word--The Bible--is an ancient document that isn't necessarily applicable to 21st Century man.
2. Mankind has evolved to a point where we are free to interpret God's Holy Word in terms that are consistent with the customs and mores of today's world. For example, the world today doesn't necessarily see anything wrong with homosexuality, so Christians, in the name of "love" and "tolerance", should accept homosexuality as mainstream as well.
3. Conservative Christians who reject this notion, and who actually quote scripture supporting their position, are guilty of firing "scripture bullets", and of being hateful and intolerant, and of being childish.

Ehrich talks at length in his latest column about this last point. He says, "It's the law of the sandbox. If high morality works, use it. If a threat of parental intervention works use it. In conflicts, the air rings with cries of 'No fair', 'You're mean', 'I'll call my mother', and 'God will get you.' When those fail, comes violence."

So that's how it's going to be, is it? Those of us who happen to believe that EVERYTHING God tells us is true, and who believe in ALL of the teachings of His Son Jesus, and who reject the false teachings of the liberal apostates, are nothing more than unruly children throwing a tantrum in our sandbox? That is utter and total garbage, and I won't sit still for it!

Paul wrote to Titus about false teachers like Ehrich. In those times, many of the false teachers, or antichrists, were found in Crete. Paul wrote:

"For there are a lot of rebels out there, full of loose, confusing, and deceiving talk. Those who were brought up religious and ought to know better are the worst. They've got to be shut up. They're disrupting entire families with their teaching, and all for the sake of a fast buck. One of their own prophets said it best: The Cretans are liars from the womb, barking dogs, lazy bellies. He certainly spoke the truth. Get on them right away. Stop that diseased talk of Jewish make-believe and made-up rules so they can recover a robust faith. Everything is clean to the clean-minded; nothing is clean to dirty-minded unbelievers. They leave their dirty fingerprints on every thought and act. They say they know God, but their actions speak louder than their words. They're real creeps, disobedient good-for-nothings." 1 Titus 1:10-16

Christians everywhere must be on guard against these antichrists. We must know how to recognize them, and we must know what to do about them. In 1 John 1 & 2, John establishes a two-prong test for distinguishing between true and false believers. An authentic Christian will confess their sins and accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, and they will try faithfully to live like Jesus did by obeying ALL of God's commands. Let's apply this test to the teachings of Mr. Ehrich.

This fine Episcopal priest is sinfully trying to lead people away from Christ by preaching a more "progressive" Gospel, yet he doesn't confess this sin. He doesn't even acknowledge that it is a sin! Then, he goes about CHANGING God's commands, saying, "This is still a sin, this isn't. This is still a sin, this isn't..." Homosexuality isn't a sin anymore, gay marriage is OK, abortion is OK. On the other hand, saving the lives of human victims of Islamic terrorists is a sin. Disagreement with progressive false teachers on any subject is intolerant and hateful, therefore it's a sin. Learning and quoting God's Holy Words is childish, hateful, and sinful. Voting for George Bush is a sin (that little nugget is from another Ehrich column). Being a conservative is a sin.

What do we do with this knowledge? First, we must pray. Confess our sins to God and ask for His forgiveness. Confess to God that our great nation has become godless, and beg for His forgiveness of America's sins. Pray for a Great Awakening of America, that we might, as a nation, turn back to God. Pray for strength and wisdom and courage for ourselves, our families, our churches and church leaders, and for our military and political leaders.

Next, quit standing on the sidelines and get in the game! Speak out against sin, and against the secular progressive agenda that has infected our culture, our schools, our churches, our government, and our homes. Learn about America's Christian heritage, and promote that heritage to your family and friends. Learn about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the teachings of the Bible, and spread that Good News to all you meet. Take to heart what Paul said in Ephesians 6:10-18:

Finally, let the Lord make you strong. Depend on his mighty power. Put on all of God's armor. Then you can stand firm against the devil's evil plans. Our fight is not against human beings. It is against the rulers, the authorities and the powers of this dark world. It is against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly world.
So put on all of God's armor. Evil days will come. But you will be able to stand up to anything. And after you have done everything you can, you will still be standing.
So stand firm. Put the belt of truth around your waist. Put the armor of godliness on your chest. Wear on your feet what will prepare you to tell the good news of peace. Also, pick up the shield of faith. With it you can put out all of the flaming arrows of the evil one. Put on the helmet of salvation. And take the sword of the Holy Spirit. The sword is God's word.
At all times, pray by the power of the Spirit. Pray all kinds of prayers. Be watchful, so that you can pray. Always keep on praying for all of God's people.

That's not too hard, is it? Well, OK, it is hard. Brutally hard! It's also necessary. God bless everyone who reads this blog (1700 hits since Thanksgiving--thank you!). All of you, from the left and the right, God bless you.

wonderful wisdom from rabbi aryeh spero of caucus for america

www.caucusforamerica.com/opinion.art.php?pID=362

This is an outstanding piece of writing! My favorite part, I think is the following:

A moral society does not stand by, doing nothing, while an innocent person is about to be killed. It is our moral duty to stop those intent on killing innocent people, or those complicit and knowing of others who wish to kill, before the murder takes place. The “dignity” of the would-be murderer, his treatment, must be inconsequential to those in position to stop him. Indeed, by stopping the terrorist, through coercion, before he murders, we are saving the would-be murderer himself from the sin of murder.

Normal people understand their obligation to first protect and be concerned about the lives and safety of those for whom they are responsible: first, your family, then your community and nation. Long ago, it became evident that the transnationalists at the New York Times and the ACLU are psychologically abnormal and thus do not root for the lives of their countrymen over the lives or even the sensibilities of our enemies. After all, to them, many conservative Americans are the enemy, and those abroad wishing to punish us are kindred spirits.

Alas, what is so striking, now, about these left-wing groups is their amorality, their comfort with it. Human Rights Watch and Center for Constitutional Rights have become misnomers for groups preoccupied with the sensibilities of jihadist terrorists hell-bent on killing innocent Americans yet completely unmoved about the horrific torture of American servicemen and kidnapped Israeli soldiers. They’ve spent the last two weeks using contributions from naïve donors to mourn the hanging of Saddam Hussein. How safe we must all feel knowing they are watching out for the human rights of terrorists and making sure Islamists are provided more constitutional protections than they are willing to grant our President, the Commander in chief.

Brilliant! We should pray that all of our political leaders would be blessed with such moral clarity!

indy 500 fever

My confirmation has just come back for our 2007 Indianapolis 500 tickets, so I now officially have the FEVER! We've been going every year since 1984 and have seen some amazing things. Some of my favorite Indy 500 memories:

1. www.indy500.com/trackmap/flashmap.html Can you believe what a HUGE facility the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is? In the 23 years that my college buddy and I have been going, we have walked every square inch of that place! Not only is that a good thing from a cardiovascular standpoint, but it's also fascinating from a sociological standpoint. I can honestly say that I have witnessed just about every possible example of human behavior there is in the infield at IMS. These days our wives go to the race with us, so the infield is off limits, but back in the day.....Oh Boy!

2. 1992--Al Unser, Jr. beat Scott Goodyear by 0.043 of a second in the closest Indy 500 finish in history. Last May, Sam Hornish, Jr. beat Marco Andretti by 0.0635 of a second. Those were exciting races!

3. My man Bobby Rahal won his only 500 in 1986. He beat Kevin Cogan by 1.441 seconds. It's a good thing the finish wasn't any closer, because Cogan had a nasty habit of wrecking his car, and taking other drivers with him. Only 4 years earlier, Cogan had wrecked on the pace-lap, for cryin' out loud, and took A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti, Roger Mears, and Dale Whittington with him. What a stiff! Watching Mario scream profanities in Italian at him in Gasoline Alley is still one of the funniest things I have ever seen!

4. Danny Sullivan's "Spin and Win" in 1985. Sullivan started that race in the 8th spot (middle of the 3rd Row), but by lap 120 of 200 had managed to climb into 2nd, right behind Mario Andretti. Sullivan and Mario went into Turn 1 side-by-side, when Sullivan's back end suddenly got loose and he went into a wild spin through the 1st Turn. Amazingly, he didn't hit anything. As the smoke cleared, Sullivan saw that he was facing Turn 2, so he hit the gas and took off. He had survived a 370-degree spin with no damage! The next time around he took a pit stop to change tires, and later passed Andretti on lap 139. He ended up beating Mario by 2.477 seconds.

5. Lot's of interesting people have driven the Pace Car for the Indy 500, but my all-time favorite is James Garner, the actor who starred in The Rockford Files (the greatest TV show in history!). He drove an Oldsmobile Calais in 1985, and I thought that was about the coolest thing I had ever seen. Previously, he had driven the pace car in 1975 and 1977.

6. The pre-race festivities are outstanding! Florence Henderson (The Brady Bunch) sings "God Bless America", Jim Nabors (Gomer Pyle) sings "Back Home Again in Indiana", thousands of multicolored balloons are released over the infield, military planes (oftentimes a Stealth Bomber) do a flyover, and somebody famous sings the National Anthem. The worst was Steven Tyler of Aerosmith 3 or 4 years ago. He actually changed the words at the end to "the home of the Indianapolis 500." That drew a lot of boos from the red-state crowd! In 2005, the National Anthem was performed by four members of the United States Military--one each from the Army, Air Force, Navy and Marines. That was outstanding!

7. All of those memories are great, but the absolute best is watching 33 rocket ships on wheels, of every color in the rainbow, thundering down the main straightaway together as the green flag waves and all 33 cars go screaming into Turn 1 to open up The Greatest Spectacle in Racing. It's something that you see, hear, and feel as it's happening, and, for my money, is the greatest moment in sports!

I can't wait til May!

little al falls again

As I was driving home from school today, I heard the sad news on the radio--Little Al got busted for drunk driving.

I've been a big fan of Indy Car racing for years. My buddy and I have gone to the Indy 500 every year since 1984, and these days our wives go with us. We have cheered like crazy for some of the greatest drivers in history--A.J. Foyt, Gordon Johncock, Johnny Rutherford, Tom Sneva, Bobby Rahal, Mario Andretti, Rick Mears, Emerson Fittipaldi, Helio Castroneves, Arie Luyendyke, Danny Sullivan, Sam Hornish Jr., Al Unser, Bobby Unser, and Al Unser Jr. My all time favorite driver was Rahal, followed closely by Mario and all of the Unsers. The Unsers are great! I never saw Bobby Unser race in person, but I watched Al, Sr. win once (1987) and finish in the Top-5 five times. I watched Al, Jr. win twice (1992, 1994) and finish in the Top-5 seven times. In his younger days, Little Al looked a little bit like Opie Taylor, and he always came across like a real wholesome guy.

Well, that was before the alcohol-related arrests several years ago and the womanizing and the rehab. I always felt bad for Little Al after that, because everything that I have ever seen and heard about him says that he's a really good guy. He just happens to be a drunk, and that's a shame. That drinking thing is something I am somewhat familiar with. I was never a full-blown alcoholic, but certainly could have been classified as a "problem drinker." That's why I really limit my drinking today; the more opportunities I give myself, the more chance there is that I will really cut loose and do something amazingly stupid.

Well, today I hear that Al Unser, Jr. has been arrested for drunk driving again. Supposedly, he had been sober for a long time, but has fallen off the wagon. Does this "news" rank with terror in the Middle East and conflict in Washington D.C.? No, but it makes me sad anyway. He's a good guy that I'll say a prayer for tonight.

The Message (MSG)
Copyright © 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson

1-2 Where do you think all these appalling wars and quarrels come from? Do you think they just happen? Think again. They come about because you want your own way, and fight for it deep inside yourselves. You lust for what you don't have and are willing to kill to get it. You want what isn't yours and will risk violence to get your hands on it.
2-3 You wouldn't think of just asking God for it, would you? And why not? Because you know you'd be asking for what you have no right to. You're spoiled children, each wanting your own way.
4-6 You're cheating on God. If all you want is your own way, flirting with the world every chance you get, you end up enemies of God and his way. And do you suppose God doesn't care? The proverb has it that "he's a fiercely jealous lover." And what he gives in love is far better than anything else you'll find. It's common knowledge that "God goes against the willful proud; God gives grace to the willing humble."
7-10 So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and he'll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out. The fun and games are over. Get serious, really serious. Get down on your knees before the Master; it's the only way you'll get on your feet.
11-12 Don't bad-mouth each other, friends. It's God's Word, his Message, his Royal Rule, that takes a beating in that kind of talk. You're supposed to be honoring the Message, not writing graffiti all over it. God is in charge of deciding human destiny. Who do you think you are to meddle in the destiny of others?
13-15 And now I have a word for you who brashly announce, "Today—at the latest, tomorrow—we're off to such and such a city for the year. We're going to start a business and make a lot of money." You don't know the first thing about tomorrow. You're nothing but a wisp of fog, catching a brief bit of sun before disappearing. Instead, make it a habit to say, "If the Master wills it and we're still alive, we'll do this or that."
16-17 As it is, you are full of your grandiose selves. All such vaunting self-importance is evil. In fact, if you know the right thing to do and don't do it, that, for you, is evil.

did you know that.....

Message to GOP: conservative beats liberal every day of the week, and twice on Sunday!

.....in January 1999, the leading GOP presidential candidate in New Hampshire was Liddy Dole? In January of 1991, the 3 leading Democrat candidates were Mario Cuomo, Jesse Jackson, and Lloyd Bentson. My point? Let's all take a deep breath and not annoint anyone just yet. Newt Gingrich has an interesting take on this:

Talk with Americans anywhere in the county and they will tell you that they have little interest in being bombarded with negative ads, trivia and cynical news reports about the men and women who are running for President over the next two years. Given the political destructiveness over the last two election cycles, Americans are anticipating the 2008 presidential race with about the same enthusiasm as getting a root canal: We know the ultimate purpose is important, but does it have to be so painful?
Did you know that Sen. John F. Kennedy announced he was running for President on January 2, 1960? And when Ronald Reagan ran for President in 1975 and 1979, he began his campaigns in November on dates that would be considered laughably late by today's consultants and journalists. But Ronald Reagan got the last laugh.
Our political process has come a long way in just 20 years -- and not for the better. Already, on the Republican side, Senators John McCain (Ariz.) and Sam Brownback (Kan.), former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Rep. Duncan Hunter (Calif.) have formally begun their presidential campaigns.
And as for the Democrats, Senators Hillary Clinton (N.Y.) and Barack Obama (Ill.), former Sen. John Edwards (N.C.) and -- just yesterday -- New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson have all officially jumped into the fray.
"Winning the Future" readers know that I've long argued that almost two years is too long for a presidential campaign. But if all these bright, talented politicians can't be persuaded to put off their presidential ambitions for a year, then they should be persuaded to spend this extra year of campaigning in a way that would do some good: by focusing on positive, bipartisan solutions for the country rather then negative, one-sided, attack politics.

My guess is that Gingrich will announce his candidacy towards the end of 2007.

.....a majority of Americans are opposed to the "redeployment" strategy (I call it "surrender") of the Democrats? How do I know that, you ask? I know it because the Democrats aren't voting to cut off funding for any additional military action. They know that most Americans don't support cut-and-run, so they are left with Plan B, which is to undermine the war effort in order to cause us to lose. Then they will blame Bush. Pretty sick, isn't it? Look at some of the articles posted at

I'm a big fan of Neal Boortz. Although he's a little too libertarian for my tastes, I find that he makes a lot of sense on most issues. This link will take you to an excellent review of the State of the Union Address, plus other fun links.

an honest appraisal of the global warming jihadists

www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=53902

My favorite quote from this excellent column by Dr. Walter Williams is:

The environmental extremists' true agenda has little or nothing to do with climate change. Their true agenda is to find a means to control our lives. The kind of repressive human control, not to mention government-sanctioned mass murder, seen under communism has lost any measure of intellectual respectability. So people who want that kind of control must come up with a new name, and that new name is environmentalism.

This describes to a tee the modern liberal agenda, and why it is so important for Christian conservatives everywhere to take a stand against the progressive, anti-freedom assault being waged on the American way of life.

As I have stated before, there are a lot of issues that I disagree with Ed Koch on. Despite that, I recognize him as a good and decent man who is much wiser than most of America's politicians (Republican or Democrat). This column, linked above, is outstanding!

James 3 (The Message)
The Message (MSG)
Copyright © 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson

1-2 Don't be in any rush to become a teacher, my friends. Teaching is highly responsible work. Teachers are held to the strictest standards. And none of us is perfectly qualified. We get it wrong nearly every time we open our mouths. If you could find someone whose speech was perfectly true, you'd have a perfect person, in perfect control of life.

3-5 A bit in the mouth of a horse controls the whole horse. A small rudder on a huge ship in the hands of a skilled captain sets a course in the face of the strongest winds. A word out of your mouth may seem of no account, but it can accomplish nearly anything—or destroy it!

5-6 It only takes a spark, remember, to set off a forest fire. A careless or wrongly placed word out of your mouth can do that. By our speech we can ruin the world, turn harmony to chaos, throw mud on a reputation, send the whole world up in smoke and go up in smoke with it, smoke right from the pit of hell.

7-10 This is scary: You can tame a tiger, but you can't tame a tongue—it's never been done. The tongue runs wild, a wanton killer. With our tongues we bless God our Father; with the same tongues we curse the very men and women he made in his image. Curses and blessings out of the same mouth!

10-12 My friends, this can't go on. A spring doesn't gush fresh water one day and brackish the next, does it? Apple trees don't bear strawberries, do they? Raspberry bushes don't bear apples, do they? You're not going to dip into a polluted mud hole and get a cup of clear, cool water, are you?

13-16 Do you want to be counted wise, to build a reputation for wisdom? Here's what you do: Live well, live wisely, live humbly. It's the way you live, not the way you talk, that counts. Mean-spirited ambition isn't wisdom. Boasting that you are wise isn't wisdom. Twisting the truth to make yourselves sound wise isn't wisdom. It's the furthest thing from wisdom—it's animal cunning, devilish conniving. Whenever you're trying to look better than others or get the better of others, things fall apart and everyone ends up at the others' throats.

17-18 Real wisdom, God's wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others. It is gentle and reasonable, overflowing with mercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold the next, not two-faced. You can develop a healthy, robust community that lives right with God and enjoy its results only if you do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor.

The Message (MSG)

1-4 I, Paul, am God's slave and Christ's agent for promoting the faith among God's chosen people, getting out the accurate word on God and how to respond rightly to it. My aim is to raise hopes by pointing the way to life without end. This is the life God promised long ago—and he doesn't break promises! And then when the time was ripe, he went public with his truth. I've been entrusted to proclaim this Message by order of our Savior, God himself. Dear Titus, legitimate son in the faith: Receive everything God our Father and Jesus our Savior give you!

5-9 I left you in charge in Crete so you could complete what I left half-done. Appoint leaders in every town according to my instructions. As you select them, ask, "Is this man well-thought-of? Is he committed to his wife? Are his children believers? Do they respect him and stay out of trouble?" It's important that a church leader, responsible for the affairs in God's house, be looked up to—not pushy, not short-tempered, not a drunk, not a bully, not money-hungry. He must welcome people, be helpful, wise, fair, reverent, have a good grip on himself, and have a good grip on the Message, knowing how to use the truth to either spur people on in knowledge or stop them in their tracks if they oppose it.

10-16 For there are a lot of rebels out there, full of loose, confusing, and deceiving talk. They're real creeps, disobedient good-for-nothings.

Copyright © 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson

1-4 My dear friends, don't let public opinion influence how you live out our glorious, Christ-originated faith. If a man enters your church wearing an expensive suit, and a street person wearing rags comes in right after him, and you say to the man in the suit, "Sit here, sir; this is the best seat in the house!" and either ignore the street person or say, "Better sit here in the back row," haven't you segregated God's children and proved that you are judges who can't be trusted?
5-7 Listen, dear friends. Isn't it clear by now that God operates quite differently? He chose the world's down-and-out as the kingdom's first citizens, with full rights and privileges. This kingdom is promised to anyone who loves God. And here you are abusing these same citizens! Isn't it the high and mighty who exploit you, who use the courts to rob you blind? Aren't they the ones who scorn the new name—"Christian"—used in your baptisms?
8-11 You do well when you complete the Royal Rule of the Scriptures: "Love others as you love yourself." But if you play up to these so-called important people, you go against the Rule and stand convicted by it. You can't pick and choose in these things, specializing in keeping one or two things in God's law and ignoring others. The same God who said, "Don't commit adultery," also said, "Don't murder." If you don't commit adultery but go ahead and murder, do you think your non-adultery will cancel out your murder? No, you're a murderer, period.
12-13 Talk and act like a person expecting to be judged by the Rule that sets us free. For if you refuse to act kindly, you can hardly expect to be treated kindly. Kind mercy wins over harsh judgment every time.
14-17 Dear friends, do you think you'll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything? Does merely talking about faith indicate that a person really has it? For instance, you come upon an old friend dressed in rags and half-starved and say, "Good morning, friend! Be clothed in Christ! Be filled with the Holy Spirit!" and walk off without providing so much as a coat or a cup of soup—where does that get you? Isn't it obvious that God-talk without God-acts is outrageous nonsense?
18 I can already hear one of you agreeing by saying, "Sounds good. You take care of the faith department, I'll handle the works department."
Not so fast. You can no more show me your works apart from your faith than I can show you my faith apart from my works. Faith and works, works and faith, fit together hand in glove.
19-20 Do I hear you professing to believe in the one and only God, but then observe you complacently sitting back as if you had done something wonderful? That's just great. Demons do that, but what good does it do them? Use your heads! Do you suppose for a minute that you can cut faith and works in two and not end up with a corpse on your hands?
21-24 Wasn't our ancestor Abraham "made right with God by works" when he placed his son Isaac on the sacrificial altar? Isn't it obvious that faith and works are yoked partners, that faith expresses itself in works? That the works are "works of faith"? The full meaning of "believe" in the Scripture sentence, "Abraham believed God and was set right with God," includes his action. It's that mesh of believing and acting that got Abraham named "God's friend." Is it not evident that a person is made right with God not by a barren faith but by faith fruitful in works?
25-26 The same with Rahab, the Jericho harlot. Wasn't her action in hiding God's spies and helping them escape—that seamless unity of believing and doing—what counted with God? The very moment you separate body and spirit, you end up with a corpse. Separate faith and works and you get the same thing: a corpse.

http://newsmax.com/archives/ic/2007/1/23/115126.shtml?s=ic

Yeah, it's sad, believe me Missy,
When you're born to be a sissy,
Without the vim and verve.
But I could show my prowess, be a lion not a mou-ess,
If I only had the nerve.

Isn't it funny how cowardly liberals like the Treasonous Peanut Farmer get whenever there's a chance they will actually have to defend their cockamamie ideas in public? Oh, they're real brave if they get to pre-select the questions and pre-select the audience and create an artificial environment that makes it seem as if people agree with them. Just try to throw them a curve ball, though, and have an honest debate where they will be challenged in an intellectual manner and they melt like Frosty the Snowman in the spring! Jimmy Carter is not only a traitor to his country, and an anti-Semite, and a fraudulent Christian, and a book-smart man without an ounce of wisdom, and the worst president of the 20th Century, but he is also gutless!

The Message (MSG)
Copyright © 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson

1 I, James, am a slave of God and the Master Jesus, writing to the twelve tribes scattered to Kingdom Come: Hello! Faith Under Pressure
2-4 Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don't try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.
5-8 If you don't know what you're doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You'll get his help, and won't be condescended to when you ask for it. Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought. People who "worry their prayers" are like wind-whipped waves. Don't think you're going to get anything from the Master that way, adrift at sea, keeping all your options open.
9-11 When down-and-outers get a break, cheer! And when the arrogant rich are brought down to size, cheer! Prosperity is as short-lived as a wildflower, so don't ever count on it. You know that as soon as the sun rises, pouring down its scorching heat, the flower withers. Its petals wilt and, before you know it, that beautiful face is a barren stem. Well, that's a picture of the "prosperous life." At the very moment everyone is looking on in admiration, it fades away to nothing.
12 Anyone who meets a testing challenge head-on and manages to stick it out is mighty fortunate. For such persons loyally in love with God, the reward is life and more life.
13-15 Don't let anyone under pressure to give in to evil say, "God is trying to trip me up." God is impervious to evil, and puts evil in no one's way. The temptation to give in to evil comes from us and only us. We have no one to blame but the leering, seducing flare-up of our own lust. Lust gets pregnant, and has a baby: sin! Sin grows up to adulthood, and becomes a real killer.
16-18 So, my very dear friends, don't get thrown off course. Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven. The gifts are rivers of light cascading down from the Father of Light. There is nothing deceitful in God, nothing two-faced, nothing fickle. He brought us to life using the true Word, showing us off as the crown of all his creatures.
19-21 Post this at all the intersections, dear friends: Lead with your ears, follow up with your tongue, and let anger straggle along in the rear. God's righteousness doesn't grow from human anger. So throw all spoiled virtue and cancerous evil in the garbage. In simple humility, let our gardener, God, landscape you with the Word, making a salvation-garden of your life.
22-24 Don't fool yourself into thinking that you are a listener when you are anything but, letting the Word go in one ear and out the other. Act on what you hear! Those who hear and don't act are like those who glance in the mirror, walk away, and two minutes later have no idea who they are, what they look like.
25 But whoever catches a glimpse of the revealed counsel of God—the free life!—even out of the corner of his eye, and sticks with it, is no distracted scatterbrain but a man or woman of action. That person will find delight and affirmation in the action.
26-27 Anyone who sets himself up as "religious" by talking a good game is self-deceived. This kind of religion is hot air and only hot air. Real religion, the kind that passes muster before God the Father, is this: Reach out to the homeless and loveless in their plight, and guard against corruption from the godless world.

anniversary of the 34-year old holocaust

Holocaust-- Any mass slaughter or reckless destruction of life

January 22, 1973--The Supreme Court federalized a "constitutional right" to abortion in the case Roe v. Wade. What was the result?

1. More than 45 million unborn babies have been murdered since 1973. Over 13 million of those babies were black babies.
2. Minority women constitute only 13% of the female population (ages 15-44) in the U.S., but they underwent about 36% of the abortions.
3. More than 1400 Black babies are aborted in the U.S. every day.
4. The Black population of the United States would be 35% higher today if it weren't for abortion.
5. Abortion is no different from any other kind of genocide that has occured throughout history. Look at http://blackgenocide.org/abortion.html.
6. Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in America, was founded by Margaret Sanger, a notorious devotee of eugenics. Look at http://blackgenocide.org/planned.html to learn more about Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, and their racist beliefs that have led directly to the mass murder of so many innocent black babies.
7. The number of abortions performed in America has been steadily dropping each year for the last 5 or 6 years. This has caused Planned Parenthood to begin marketing abortion more aggressively so as to encourage that number to go up. The most outrageous example of their marketing has been the printing of T-shirts promoting abortion. How sick is that?

Happy birthday, Roe v. Wade! You have had quite a life!

it's the colts vs da' bears

http://www.superbowl.com/

That Colts win over the Patriots was just about the most exciting NFL game I have ever seen. To be down 21-3 (21-6 at halftime) and then have the ability to come back and win 38-34 is remarkable. Now we've got two weeks of hype-hype-hype until the Super Bowl finally kicks off on Feb. 4. Although I am a huge Packers fan, I do root for the Indiana team and I like the Colts. I have a lot of respect for Tony Dungy and Peyton Manning as men, and I think that they are a class organization. Of course, as a Packers fan, I hate the Bears, so my hope is that the Colts win 72-0. Go Colts!

conservative truth--the dangers of illegal immigration

http://www.aim.org/media_monitor/5156_0_2_0_C/

There are approximately 240,000 illegal immigrant sex offenders presently in the United States. Each and every day, eight American children are sexually assaulted by an illegal immigrant, yet moderates and liberals continue to act as if we can't survive as a nation without this criminal invasion of our country. This is a vitally important national security issue that will never be resolved until we the people stand up and demand that our borders be secured.

conservative truth defeats liberal lies---again!

www.theconservativevoice.com/article/22203.html

Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever get bored with watching liberal lies get blown up by conservative truth. Strangely, it never gets old! I think the reason I enjoy it so much is because guys like John Kerry and Charlie Rangel work so had to appear smarter than the rest of us, yet are continually exposed as the mental midgets they really are. I don't care who you are, that's funny!

1-5 They arrived on the other side of the sea in the country of the Gerasenes. As Jesus got out of the boat, a madman from the cemetery came up to him. He lived there among the tombs and graves. No one could restrain him—he couldn't be chained, couldn't be tied down. He had been tied up many times with chains and ropes, but he broke the chains, snapped the ropes. No one was strong enough to tame him. Night and day he roamed through the graves and the hills, screaming out and slashing himself with sharp stones.
6-8 When he saw Jesus a long way off, he ran and bowed in worship before him—then bellowed in protest, "What business do you have, Jesus, Son of the High God, messing with me? I swear to God, don't give me a hard time!" (Jesus had just commanded the tormenting evil spirit, "Out! Get out of the man!")
9-10 Jesus asked him, "Tell me your name."
He replied, "My name is Mob. I'm a rioting mob." Then he desperately begged Jesus not to banish them from the country.
11-13 A large herd of pigs was browsing and rooting on a nearby hill. The demons begged him, "Send us to the pigs so we can live in them." Jesus gave the order. But it was even worse for the pigs than for the man. Crazed, they stampeded over a cliff into the sea and drowned.
14-15 Those tending the pigs, scared to death, bolted and told their story in town and country. Everyone wanted to see what had happened. They came up to Jesus and saw the madman sitting there wearing decent clothes and making sense, no longer a walking madhouse of a man.
16-17 Those who had seen it told the others what had happened to the demon-possessed man and the pigs. At first they were in awe—and then they were upset, upset over the drowned pigs. They demanded that Jesus leave and not come back.
18-20 As Jesus was getting into the boat, the demon-delivered man begged to go along, but he wouldn't let him. Jesus said, "Go home to your own people. Tell them your story—what the Master did, how he had mercy on you." The man went back and began to preach in the Ten Towns area about what Jesus had done for him. He was the talk of the town.
21-24 After Jesus crossed over by boat, a large crowd met him at the seaside. One of the meeting-place leaders named Jairus came. When he saw Jesus, he fell to his knees, beside himself as he begged, "My dear daughter is at death's door. Come and lay hands on her so she will get well and live." Jesus went with him, the whole crowd tagging along, pushing and jostling him.
25-29 A woman who had suffered a condition of hemorrhaging for twelve years—a long succession of physicians had treated her, and treated her badly, taking all her money and leaving her worse off than before—had heard about Jesus. She slipped in from behind and touched his robe. She was thinking to herself, "If I can put a finger on his robe, I can get well." The moment she did it, the flow of blood dried up. She could feel the change and knew her plague was over and done with.
30 At the same moment, Jesus felt energy discharging from him. He turned around to the crowd and asked, "Who touched my robe?"
31 His disciples said, "What are you talking about? With this crowd pushing and jostling you, you're asking, 'Who touched me?' Dozens have touched you!"
32-33 But he went on asking, looking around to see who had done it. The woman, knowing what had happened, knowing she was the one, stepped up in fear and trembling, knelt before him, and gave him the whole story.
34 Jesus said to her, "Daughter, you took a risk of faith, and now you're healed and whole. Live well, live blessed! Be healed of your plague."
35 While he was still talking, some people came from the leader's house and told him, "Your daughter is dead. Why bother the Teacher any more?"
36 Jesus overheard what they were talking about and said to the leader, "Don't listen to them; just trust me."
37-40 He permitted no one to go in with him except Peter, James, and John. They entered the leader's house and pushed their way through the gossips looking for a story and neighbors bringing in casseroles. Jesus was abrupt: "Why all this busybody grief and gossip? This child isn't dead; she's sleeping." Provoked to sarcasm, they told him he didn't know what he was talking about.
40-43 But when he had sent them all out, he took the child's father and mother, along with his companions, and entered the child's room. He clasped the girl's hand and said, "Talitha koum," which means, "Little girl, get up." At that, she was up and walking around! This girl was twelve years of age. They, of course, were all beside themselves with joy. He gave them strict orders that no one was to know what had taken place in that room. Then he said, "Give her something to eat."

mark 4

Mark 4 (The Message)
The Message (MSG)
Copyright © 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson

1-2 He went back to teaching by the sea. A crowd built up to such a great size that he had to get into an offshore boat, using the boat as a pulpit as the people pushed to the water's edge. He taught by using stories, many stories.
3-8 "Listen. What do you make of this? A farmer planted seed. As he scattered the seed, some of it fell on the road and birds ate it. Some fell in the gravel; it sprouted quickly but didn't put down roots, so when the sun came up it withered just as quickly. Some fell in the weeds; as it came up, it was strangled among the weeds and nothing came of it. Some fell on good earth and came up with a flourish, producing a harvest exceeding his wildest dreams.
9"Are you listening to this? Really listening?"
10-12 When they were off by themselves, those who were close to him, along with the Twelve, asked about the stories. He told them, "You've been given insight into God's kingdom—you know how it works. But to those who can't see it yet, everything comes in stories, creating readiness, nudging them toward receptive insight. These are people— Whose eyes are open but don't see a thing, Whose ears are open but don't understand a word, Who avoid making an about-face and getting forgiven."
13 He continued, "Do you see how this story works? All my stories work this way.
14-15"The farmer plants the Word. Some people are like the seed that falls on the hardened soil of the road. No sooner do they hear the Word than Satan snatches away what has been planted in them.
16-17"And some are like the seed that lands in the gravel. When they first hear the Word, they respond with great enthusiasm. But there is such shallow soil of character that when the emotions wear off and some difficulty arrives, there is nothing to show for it.
18-19"The seed cast in the weeds represents the ones who hear the kingdom news but are overwhelmed with worries about all the things they have to do and all the things they want to get. The stress strangles what they heard, and nothing comes of it.
20"But the seed planted in the good earth represents those who hear the Word, embrace it, and produce a harvest beyond their wildest dreams."
21-22 Jesus went on: "Does anyone bring a lamp home and put it under a washtub or beneath the bed? Don't you put it up on a table or on the mantel? We're not keeping secrets, we're telling them; we're not hiding things, we're bringing them out into the open.
23"Are you listening to this? Really listening?
24-25"Listen carefully to what I am saying—and be wary of the shrewd advice that tells you how to get ahead in the world on your own. Giving, not getting, is the way. Generosity begets generosity. Stinginess impoverishes."
26-29Then Jesus said, "God's kingdom is like seed thrown on a field by a man who then goes to bed and forgets about it. The seed sprouts and grows—he has no idea how it happens. The earth does it all without his help: first a green stem of grass, then a bud, then the ripened grain. When the grain is fully formed, he reaps—harvest time!
30-32"How can we picture God's kingdom? What kind of story can we use? It's like a pine nut. When it lands on the ground it is quite small as seeds go, yet once it is planted it grows into a huge pine tree with thick branches. Eagles nest in it."
33-34With many stories like these, he presented his message to them, fitting the stories to their experience and maturity. He was never without a story when he spoke. When he was alone with his disciples, he went over everything, sorting out the tangles, untying the knots.
The Wind Ran Out of Breath 35-38Late that day he said to them, "Let's go across to the other side." They took him in the boat as he was. Other boats came along. A huge storm came up. Waves poured into the boat, threatening to sink it. And Jesus was in the stern, head on a pillow, sleeping! They roused him, saying, "Teacher, is it nothing to you that we're going down?"
39-40Awake now, he told the wind to pipe down and said to the sea, "Quiet! Settle down!" The wind ran out of breath; the sea became smooth as glass. Jesus reprimanded the disciples: "Why are you such cowards? Don't you have any faith at all?"
41They were in absolute awe, staggered. "Who is this, anyway?" they asked. "Wind and sea at his beck and call!"

another textbook example of the lunacy of liberalism

http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070120/LIVING09/701200392/1111

Tom Ehrich is an Episcopal priest, writer, and consultant. His website is www.onajourney.org. He is a proud member of the lunatic left and, despite calling himself a priest, is a textbook example of a secular progressive. I say that because much of his writing is devoted to talking about how important it is for man to constantly reinterpret God's Holy Word in light of our evolution as enlightened beings. He believes that it is wrong to quote scripture in order to dispute liberal doctrine (he calls that "scripture bullets"). This guy is an absolute nut!

Read his latest screed and see for yourself. The above link will take you to his opinions on the Duke lacrosse case. Ehrich is absolutely beside himself because it now looks like the case will be dropped, probably because the alleged "victim" can't keep her phony stories straight. He doesn't want the case dropped because he says that the case is important in keeping our national discussion going on the sins of privileged white people. Ain't that just the way with those nutty liberals!

I have 4 basic problems with Ehrich's column. The first problem is that much of the column is false, as in incorrect, as in pack of lies. That shouldn't come as any surprise, seeing as how the column was written by a liberal. The major weapon of a liberal is the trusty old falsehood! If you want to find factual information about the case, go to http://durhamwonderland.blogspot.com/.

The second problem is that Ehrich clearly believes that the purpose of the criminal justice system is to further the liberal agenda. That's a common misconception among those on the left. Clearly, liberals were asleep in government class when the teacher said that the purpose of the criminal justice system is to determine guilt or innocence and to lock up the guilty.

The third problem I have with the column is that Ehrich expresses no concern whatsoever for the young boys who were falsely accused. That's probably because they are privileged, white college students. If they were black and being accused of a crime they didn't commit, I guarantee Ehrich would be right out front protesting. What a hypocrite!

The fourth problem I have is that The Indianapolis Star continues to run this clown's columns in the Faith and Values section of the paper. I would have no problem if they ran his columns in the opinion section, but they continue to pretend that he is a religion writer.

Can there be any doubt as to how destructive the principles of liberalism are?

This is a very thoughtful, intelligent article about the controversy surrounding Rep. Keith Ellison, D.-Minnesota, and his decision to use a Koran for his swearing in ceremony. Enjoy!

if dr. king were alive today, he would be a republican

If Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. were alive today, he would be a Republican, and I'll tell you why:

1. He would see that Republicans support school choice--vouchers, charter schools, and home schooling. Dr. King would understand that it is a sin to limit a child's access to a good education just because they don't have the financial resources to move to a better neighborhood or to enroll in a private school.
2. He would see that the GOP is pro-life. Dr. King would rightly recognize abortion as murder, and legalized genocide against African-Americans.
3. He would see that the free market, low tax principles of Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush create more jobs and more wealth for all Americans, including black Americans. Dr. King would look at the economic indicators and how they have exploded during the last 6 years, in spite of 9/11, the war on terror, and Katrina, and he would recognize the amazing progress made by black Americans due to GOP policies.
4. He would see that control of the Democrat Party has been seized by the radical left and the secular progressives. Dr. King would recognize their hatred and hostility towards Christianity, and their jihad against public expression of Christian faith, and he would be appalled.
5. He would see how utterly amoral many of today's so-called "black leaders" have become. Dr. King would look at race pimps like Jackson and Sharpton and he would be ashamed. Conversely, he would look at groups like the Congress of Racial Equality (www.core-online.org/index.htm) and Black America's Political Action Committee (http://www.bampac.org/issue_Advocacy.asp) and recognize that their conservative principles are more helpful to blacks than are the failed principles of liberalism.
6. He would compare and contrast the two parties, and he would see that the GOP is the only one of the two to make a real attempt to live up to the following ideals of Dr. King:

And so Jesus gave us a new norm of greatness. If you want to be important—wonderful. If you want to be recognized—wonderful. If you want to be great—wonderful. But recognize that he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. That's a new definition of greatness.
And this morning, the thing that I like about it: by giving that definition of greatness, it means that everybody can be great, because everybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You don't have to know about Plato and Aristotle to serve. You don't have to know Einstein's theory of relativity to serve. You don't have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love. And you can be that servant.----
Delivered at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Feb. 4, 1968

I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
I have a dream today.
I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; one day right there in Alabama, little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.
I have a dream today.
I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.
This is our hope. This is the faith that I go back to the South with. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.
This will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with a new meaning, "My country, 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim's pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring."
And if America is to be a great nation this must become true. So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire. Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York. Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania!
Let freedom ring from the snowcapped Rockies of Colorado!
Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California!
But not only that; let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia!
Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee!
Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi. From every mountainside, let freedom ring.
And when this happens, When we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"---
From Dr. King's famous "I Have a Dream" speech, delivered on August 28, 1963

america's christian heritage--george washington and the washington monument

It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God and to obey His will.----George Washington

FACTS:
1. Construction of the Washington Monument began in 1848. It was completed in 1884, after Congress appropriated $2 million to finish the work. That's $2 million of taxpayer money (are you paying attention, liberals?).
2. The cornerstone of the Washington Monument contains a Holy Bible, which was a gift from the Bible Society, as well as copies of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution.
3. Inside the monument is a memorial plaque from the Free Press Methodist-Episcopal Church.
4. Tribute blocks in the Monument have the following Christian references carved into them:
---Holiness to the Lord
---Search the Scriptures
---The memory of the just is blessed.
---May Heaven to this union continue its beneficence.
---In God We trust.
---Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

What do you suppose the reaction would be if Congressional Republicans introduced a resolution to appropriate $2 million to begin construction on a monument to Ronald Reagan; a monument containing a Bible and having Bible verses carved into it? I guess that the 21st Century liberal is just a whole lot smarter about the meaning of "separation of church and state" than our first president was.

liberal law---the un-fairness doctrine

Have you ever seen the beer commercials that feature Burt Reynolds, Jimmy Johnson, and other recognizable men sitting around a table in a "star chamber" of sorts, debating and voting on "Man Law?" No leaving the game early, and no baking on game days! Man Law! Those are great commercials! http://manlaws.com/

Whenever I read about some new liberal piece of legislation, such as the "Media Ownership Reform Act" sponsored by Rep. Maurice Hinchey, D-Georgia, I always get a mental picture of a group of lefty wing nuts sitting around a table creating "Liberal Law." One of the very first tenents on Liberal Law is, "When writing laws, give those laws names that say just exactly the opposite of what the real purpose of that law is." A perfect example? Try out the Fairness Doctrine.

www.creators.com/opinion/david-limbaugh.html will take you to a column by David Limbaugh concerning the so-called Fairness Doctrine. There is nothing fair about it, I can assure you. The purpose of the Fairness Doctrine is to destroy conservative talk radio. Period. The Fairness Doctrine has been so named so that liberals, whenever they hear a conservative oppose it, can say, "You mean you are opposed to fairness?" There are no limits whatsoever on liberal dishonesty! There are also no limits on the lengths a liberal will go to in order to suppress the 1st Amendment rights of a conservative. These people are dangerous, and we must engage them aggressively on the battlefield of ideas.

sheehan leads delegation of hypocrites

http://www.creators.com/opinion/miguel-perez.html

This column, written by Miguel Perez, gives us a very clear look into the sick, twisted mind of Cindy Sheehan and the soulless "peace" activists who follow her. My absolutely favorite part of this column is this quote from Perez:

Sheehan, who became an antiwar activist after she lost a son in Iraq, is concerned about the human rights of some Muslims who want to destroy everything we stand for. And yet she ignores the pleas of people who are only seeking the freedom to protest that she obviously exploits.
It's always the same with these bleeding heart liberals: Their hearts only bleed for anyone who hates the United States.

Amen!

By the way, if you would be interested in reading about families who have lost loved ones in Iraq, and who are dealing with their pain and grief in a less treasonous manner, take a look at
http://www.moveamericaforward.org/. It is gratifying to learn that losing a family member in Iraq doesn't automatically turn a person into a raving lunatic.

all i ever needed to know, i learned from rankin and bass

I must confess that I am so very confused. I have read all about this thing called global warming, and I was starting to see the light. I was almost ready to go out and see Al Gore's flick, and to invest all of my meager savings into the Bermuda Shorts market, when all of a sudden, it got cold! Real cold! The State of California just lost 75% of its orange crops during this cold wave. Snow and ice and arctic temperatures have killed people and damaged property all over the country. Central Indiana will get 3 inches of snow this weekend, and "The Region" (northwestern Indiana) will get hit a lot worse due to the "lake effect." Was Brother Love wrong? Are we entering a period of global cooling?

As I ponder this whole issue of climate, our impact on it and it's impact on us, it suddenly hits me. The TRUTH is contained, not in a sci-fi flick from the 21st Century produced by a failed presidential candidate, but in a wildly popular Christmas TV special from 1974. The truth can be found in the Rankin and Bass production The Year Without a Santa Clause! I'm sure that all of you remember that show with great fondness. This classic animated production told the story of how Santa Clause had a bad cold and decided to take a break from Christmas. Two of his elves, Jingle Bells and Jangle Bells, decided to go out with Vixen to find children to convince Santa that the Christmas spirit is still important to everybody else. But first (and this is the important part) they have to get past the Heat Miser and the Snow Miser before they land in Southtown, USA, where it never snows for Christmas. The Miser brothers can't agree to let it snow in Southtown, so Mrs. Clause intervenes with their mom--Mother Nature. That's it! This whole tug of war over the climate is, in reality, a struggle for control between Heat Miser and Snow Miser. During this past summer and fall, Heat Miser was in control.

I'm Mister Green Christmas,
I'm Mister Sun.
I'm Mister Heat Blister.
I'm Mister Hundred and One.
They call me Heat Miser.
What ever I touch
Starts to melt in my clutch.
I'm too much!

As we have progressed through the month of January, Heat Miser's brother--Snow Miser-- has begun to exert his control.

I'm Mister White Christmas,
I'm Mister Snow.
I'm Mister Icicle,
I'm Mister Ten Below.
Friends call me Snow Miser.
Whatever I touch
Turns to snow in my clutch.
I'm too much!

You see, all of the liberal worshippers of Al Gore's Church of Global Warming (also known as Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show) have overlooked the simple truth that Mrs. Clause and Mother Nature were able to convince the two brothers to share! Heat Miser controls the climate during the summer, Snow Miser controls the climate during the winter, and they play back and forth during the other two seasons just for fun. Aren't you glad that you visited this site so that you could be educated about the truth? And isn't it nice to know that truth can be found in the clay-mation characters of Rankin and Bass?
Of course, all of you seekers-of-salvation who have latched on to Al Gore won't be a bit happy to see the truth as I have layed it out for you. You might even be a little bit resentful of the fact that I used happy-happy song lyrics to prove my point. As a peace offering to you, I offer the following Neil Diamond lyrics from his song about Al Gore and his Global Warming flock:

Hot August night
And the leaves hanging down
And the grass on the ground smelling sweet
Move up the road
To the outside of town
And the sound of that good gospel beat

Sits a ragged tent
Where there ain't no trees
And that gospel group
Telling you and me

It's Love
Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show
Pack up the babies
Grab the old ladies
Everyone goes
Everyone knows
Brother Love's show

Room gets suddenly still
And when you'd almost bet
You could hear yourself sweat, he walks in
Eyes black as coal
And when he lifts his face
Every ear in the place is on him
Starting soft and slow

Like a small earthquake
And when he lets go
Half the valley shakes

It's Love, Love
Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show
Pack up the babies
Grab the old ladies
Everyone goes
Everyone knows
Brother Love's show

Sermon
Take my hand in yours
Walk with me this day
In my heart, I know
I will never stray
Halle, halle, halle, halle, halle, halle, halle

It's Love, Love
Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show
Pack up the babies
Grab the old ladies
Everyone goes
Everyone knows
Brother Love's show
Amen!

what would happen if.....

Take a little trip with me, won't you? Let's all travel to a place that I like to call "What Would Happen If....." . It's an easy place to get to; just open your mind and read along with me:

Once upon a time, there was a young woman named Buffy Van Teppe. Buffy was a beautiful young woman with long blonde hair and the most captivating blue eyes you have ever seen. She was captain of the cheerleading squad at State U, where she majored in fashion design. Her parents were the wealthy philanthropists, Dirk and Susan Van Teppe. They had just recently donated $1 million from their foundation to help fund a much-needed expansion of the University Library.
One Saturday morning, Buffy showed up at the University Health Clinic with a most tragic story. She had been raped! The nurse at the clinic called the police, and Buffy told them all about it.
It seems that she had been at a party the previous night at the off-campus house of three of the University basketball players--Terrell Gunn, Marcus Lincoln, and Roosevelt Suggs. The whole team had been there, as well as most of the cheerleaders and many other students from across campus. According to Buffy, Terrell had invited her to join him and his two roommates in a private room upstairs where he said they had some real high-grade marijuana they wanted to smoke with her. When she went into the room, Buffy said, Roosevelt grabbed her, held her down, and all three players took turns with her. After they finished, they called her a cab and sent her on her way.
The chief investigating officer on her case was a big, burly red-neck named Buford T. Justice. Officer Justice was notorious on campus for the way that he continually harrassed the African-American students. You see, Buford was one of those ignorant souls that just didn't like black folk! As Buffy recounted her story for Buford and the attending nurses, Officer Justice took no notes, but the head nurse did. Buford told Buffy that he would see to it personally that the horrific assault committed against her by "those colored boys", as he colorfully put it, would be avenged.
The Prosecuting Attorney held a press conference that very afternoon, announcing that Suggs, Lincoln and Gunn had been arrested and that he was prosecuting them for the rape of Buffy Van Teppe. Buffy's parents spoke at the press conference, and said how distubing it was to them that such "sex-crazed animals" were allowed to attend State U just because they could hit a jump shot. Students and faculty member alike began putting up signs all over campus, saying ugly things like "Go Back To The 'Hood and Leave Our Daughters Alone!" All manner of filthy, racist bile was plastered on every wall on campus, it seemed.
As the weeks went by, a curious thing happened. Young Buffy's story began to unravel. It seems that Roosevelt and Suggs weren't even at the party at the time Buffy said that the rape happened. They had gone to the liquor store to buy more booze, and they used a credit card. The liquor store had a security camera, so between the time stamp on the video and the time coded on the credit card receipt, these two young men had an air-tight alibi. Well, Buffy said, maybe she was confused about the time. She was re-interviewed by Officer Buford T. Justice. After the interview Buffy had a different account of events. Buford produced his "case notes" and said that Buffy's story had, in fact, been consistent all along. He said that his notes from the first interview proved that. The head nurse at the clinic came forward, though, and stated that Officer Justice didn't take any notes at the clinic, but that her notes showed that Buffy had no physical signs of sexual assault, and there was absolutely zero trace evidence on her body or her clothes. That would be very unusual in a case of gang rape.
As the months went by, Buffy's story continued to "evolve." One part of her story never changed, though. She continued to insist that she was the victim of out-of-control black athletes who were culled from the inner city just to play basketball and make the university some money. The prosecutor continued to insist that he believed Buffy's story, despite the wildly inconsistent, ever-changing quality of her version of the events.
While all of this was going on, the three basketball players saw their lives fall apart. The accusations led to all three being kicked off the basketball team, and the remainder of the basketball season to be cancelled. All of the black players withdrew from school since they didn't have a team anymore, and attempted to find jobs in that college town. They were not successful. As I write this, the State Attorney General's office announced that they were taking the case over from the local prosecutor, since there seemed to be so many ethical "questions" about the way he had handled the case. The Attorney General announced that he would be taking the next six weeks to study all of the case files before announcing how he would proceed. In the meantime, the three players continued to wait for justice.

OK, we're back to the "real world." The above story never happened, of course, but what if it did? What do you think the reaction of the ACLU would be? How about the NAACP? How about Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton or any of the other "rhyming reverends" that always seem to parachute in whenever danger arises? What would the reaction of the drive-by media be? Would there be wall-to-wall coverage of the racial injustice these basketball players had been subjected to? Would Oprah be having a telethon to raise money for the legal defense fund of these young players? Would the headlines scream about how common it is for privleged, young white women to falsely accuse innocent black men of sexual crimes, and how often times those young black men would pay with their lives? Would we see continuous footage of the Emmett Till funeral, and the funerals of other innocent black men wrongly accused?
With your mind's eye, try to envision all of the "blowback" if a rich, white, pretty college girl falsely accused poor, black, male college athletes of raping her, and then was discovered to have made it all up. Just what do you think would happen?
Compare all of that to the Duke lacrosse case. Are there any limits to the dishonesty and hypocracy of the liberal intelligentsia? Take a look at the following links, and decide for yourself.

the wisdom of el rushbo--limbaugh's 35 undeniable truths

http://www.lectlaw.com/files/cur52.htm

When read with an open mind unscarred by the ravages of liberalism, Rush Limbaugh's 35 Undeniable Truths make a lot of sense. I'm going to make a prediction. If any of my liberal readers decide to comment on this, they will avoid any direct reference to the specific points made by Limbaugh. They will instead focus on personal attacks. I would like to ask for a favor. If you happen to disagree with a specific point made by Limbaugh, then refute it, using facts, logic and reason. I dare you!

democrat non-leadership on iraq

Has anyone else noticed how intentionally clueless the Democrats are about the war in Iraq? Let us not forget that both Republicans and Democrats in Congress voted to authorize the invasion of Iraq. That's called bipartisanship. As the fighting began, the Democrats immediately began to hyperventilate about Iraq turning into a Vietnam-like quagmire. They then began screaming about how Bush was fighting the war "on the cheap" with not enough troops and not enough equipment. The complained about Bush not doing enough to clean out Bagdad. Today, Bush says that he wants to send over about 20,000 extra troops to clean out Bagdad. The Democrats scream and holler that Bush is insane to follow this strategy. Hey--Liberal Democrats--get a clue, take a position, and try, for once, to act like adults! If you think that Bush is wrong, then vote to defund the war. If you have a better alternative, let's hear it! If all you have are temper tantrums, then sit down, shut up, and let the adults handle things! Perhaps an adult like Joe Lieberman (overwhelmingly reelected by the voters of blue state-Connecticut) could assist you. Lieberman said, in response to Pres. Bush's recent speech,
"I applaud the president for rejecting the fatalism of failure and pursuing a new course to achieve success in Iraq....Our troops have sacrificed much and now more will be asked of them to defend our nation. They fight in a just, noble and moral cause against the forces of terrorism, and their sacrifices will make America and the world more secure. I want our troops to return home as soon as possible--after we allow, enable and support them in accomplishing their mission in Iraq in finishing this fight.....I know there are deep differences of opinion about what the president has proposed tonight. In the coming days and weeks, we should undertake respectful debate and deliberation over this new plan. But, let us also remember that excessive partisan division and rancor at home only weakens our will to prevail in this war."

Sen. Lieberman is a statesman, but, sadly, there are not very many other statesmen in D.C. from either party. The official position of the Democrat Party seems to be, "If George Bush is for it, we are against it!" What a bunch of juvenile delinquents! If you don't like the president's plan, then propose an alternative. If you think that our continued presence in Iraq is that horrible, then vote to defund the war. Bring it to a stop! You have the power and the authority to do that. If it is actually true that a majority of Americans want an immediate pull-put from Iraq, then your vote to defund the war would be extremely popular. Then why is it that so many of you screaming liberals seem to be afraid to pull the trigger? Could it be that, in your hearts, you know that a majority of Americans DON'T support "cut and run?" How gutless and cowardly! Your entire strategy seems to be to continually undermine the Commander-In-Chief and his troops so that we are defeated, at which point you would be swept into power. The behavior of the Democrat Party is shameful! Both parties need to unite behind one common cause--what will it take to win? After we win and the troops come home, by all means, open fire on the President and tear him up over his mistakes. He's made plenty, so that shouldn't be too hard. While we are fighting, though, quit acting like you want the terrorists to win. That sort of behavior makes you look like traitors!

a big fish tale from nancy pelosi

One of the Great Liberal Lies we always hear (because it's repeated so often in the media) is that raising the minimum wage is good for poor people. That's a lie, of course, but that's what liberals believe, isn't it? Well then, why did Nancy Pelosi insert language into the new minimum wage bill that exempts American Samoa from compliance? Did you know that StarKist Tuna employs about 75% of the work force in Samoa? Did you know that the parent company of StarKist--Del Monte Corporation--is headquartered in San Francisco, which just so happens to be located in Pelosi's district? Does anyone know how much it cost Del Monte to buy Pelosi's cooperation? Boys and girls, this stinks to high heaven! So much for the great and pure ethics of the Democrats!

can the dream be sustained?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbUtL_0vAJk

Today, on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, America stands at a crossroads. Conservative Republican reforms, enacted over the last 25 years or so, such as tax cuts, school voucher programs, and welfare reform, have brought America closer to Dr. King's ideal of equality than we have ever been before. The November elections, however, have brought a new group of people into power. The liberal Democrats who now control the Congress have already started rolling back the progress that has been made, and they promise not to stop until we're back to where we were in the 1960's. Congress has passed a minimum wage hike, which will have the immediate effect of raising black unemployment by 6%. Next on the liberal agenda is a repeal of the Bush tax cuts (that means a tax increase) which means that all Americans, including black Americans, will have less money in their pockets. The tremendous increase that we have seen since 2000 in black-owned businesses will now be just an aberration. Thank you liberals! The school voucher programs that have been so successful will soon be a thing of the past, since they are so offensive to teacher unions. That means that students will once again be stuck in the failing schools that liberals want them in. Thank you liberals! Any and all restrictions on illegal immigration will be eliminated by the new liberals, forcing huge numbers of poor black workers into unemployment. Thank you liberals! It looks to me as if the liberal democrats are not going to be happy until we have re-achieved the "days of malaise" that Pres. Carter worked so hard to achieve. Not to worry, though. Mommy and Daddy Government, under liberal control, stand ready, willing and able to confiscate just as much of the taxpayer's hard-earned income as is necessary to provide "alternatives" for those who get ground up by the liberal agenda.
