2007 sports predictions

Enough political commentary---let's talk more sports! In no particular order, here's what to look for in 2007.
1. Indiana Pacers President Larry Bird will fire Head Coach Rick Carlisle by February, and take over the coach's position himself. Carlisle won't care--he's already got a V.P. position waiting on him in the front office. Pacers fans will get excited because the move will light a fire under some of the players, and the team will play better. Until the playoffs. Pacers will get rolled in the 1st Round.
2. The Indianapolis Colts will get absolutely crushed on Saturday by the Kansas City Chiefs in Round 1 of the playoffs. Jamal Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens currently holds the NFL record with 295 yards rushing in a game. Expect RB Larry Johnson of the Chiefs to gain at least 350 against the Colts.
3. The Super Bowl will feature the New England Patriots vs the Chicago Bears--a rematch of Super Bowl XX. This time, Tom Brady and the Pats roll the Bears.
4. Brett Favre will announce his retirement within 1-2 weeks. Favre was absolutely one of the 5 best football players of all time, and it makes me sad that he won't play anymore. Green Bay will be in a world of hurt next year with Aaron Rogers at QB. Aaron Rogers!!?? Good grief, it might as well be Mr. Rogers! Check out www.officialbrettfavre.com/ and www.pro-football-reference.com/players/FavrBr00.htm. This man could flat play the game!
5. Ball State University basketball will be on probation before the end of 2007. Ronnie Thompson, the new head coach, will wreck the program before BSU finally wises up and fires him.
6. The Butler Bulldogs will make the Sweet 16 in this year's NCAA tourney. They have an outside chance at making the Final Four. Butler has the best backcourt in the nation with A.J. Graves and Mike Green. Believe it!
7. Major league baseball will continue to suck in 2007. Minor league baseball, on the other hand, will continue to be all the proof we need that there is a God, and that He loves us very much! Be good to yourself and take your family to a minor league baseball game!
8. The Indianapolis Indians playing at Victory Field (the finest minor league ball park in the country) will continue to be the best value in Indiana sports and entertainment. The only reason Butler Basketball at Hinkle Fieldhouse isn't in 1st place is because they don't serve beer (NCAA rules).
9. Nationwide, the best sports and entertainment value has to be the San Jose Giants (A-team affiliate of the SF Giants) playing at Municiple Stadium in San Jose, CA. What a great place to spend the day with your family!
10. The Utah Jazz will win the NBA World Championship this summer. It will serve as a fitting tribute to one of the all-time great people in sports history--Head Coach Jerry Sloan. Go to
