the arrogance of rich liberals

www.creators.com/opinion/froma-harrop/in-praise-of-rich-liberals.html

The arrogance and the dishonesty of the liberal intelligentsia never ceases to amaze me. This column by Froma Harrop (link above) is one of the clearest examples I have ever seen of what I'm talking about. As far as I can tell, Harrop is attempting to make three main points with her latest screed:
1. Rich liberals care more about, and are more compassionate towards, poor people than rich conservatives are.
2. People get rich mostly through inheritance and luck, and by lobbying D.C. politicians for "special deals." Hard work has nothing to do with it.
3. Tax cuts help the evil rich and hurt the poor.

Look at those three points. I dare you to find one ounce of verifiable truth anywhere in that pack of lies! Hint--you can't. None of it is true. Lets blow up the myths one by one, shall we?

1. If rich liberals are so compassionate, then why are they so stingy with their time and treasures when it comes to charity? I documented this tragic fact in my post entitled "The Difference Between Cats and Dogs" from Jan. 5. Conservative-headed families give, on average, 30% more than liberal-headed families, even though liberal-headed families make, on average, 6% more income. Rich liberals are not compassionate; they are the very personification of Ebenezer Scrooge!
2. Have liberals never heard about hard work? One of the biggest liberal lies in The Great Liberal Playbook is that accumulating wealth is all a matter of luck, and that the biggest impediment to accumulating wealth is tax cuts for the rich. Poppycock! The biggest impediment there is to wealth building is the liberal politician! Liberals continue to confiscate more and more of our personal wealth, and they continue to throw that money into The Black Hole of Mommy and Daddy Government. Social Security is a prime example. Social Security was a bad idea that was executed horribly, and I'll tell you why. After spending a lifetime throwing your hard-earned money into the S.S. toilet, you can only expect to get back about $900 per month when it's your turn to get back. Why? Because liberal politicians have refused to invest any of that money in anything that would earn any kind of return. It just goes into the general fund. If that money had been invested in the Dow Jones--nothing risky, just real boring safe stuff--the return on that investment would make every Social Security recipient a millionaire. We would be a nation of millionaires! The fact that our money has been squandered so badly is a sin! The truth is that, if government would get out of our pockets, every worker in America--even minimum wage earners--would have more money in their pockets to invest in continuing education or job training (to get a better job) or to invest in any manner they chose to begin building wealth. Some would be better at this than others. Building wealth is a skill just like any other skill. A wise man once told me that, no matter how much a person makes, if you tithe 10%, save 10%, spend the rest, and work hard every day of your life to better your station in life, you will have some measure of wealth at the end of the trail. Conservatives believe that and liberals don't. The facts support the conservative.
3. "Tax cuts for the rich." I am so sick of hearing that lie, I can't stand it!
FACT---The top 50% of all wage earners pay 97% of all taxes.
FACT---The top 25% of all wage earners pay 84% of all taxes.
FACT---The top 1% of all wage earners pay 34% of all taxes.
FACT---Poor people don't pay taxes. You can't cut something that doesn't exist!
FACT---Each and every time taxes are cut, government revenue goes up, the economy soars, and EVERYBODY improves their station in life. This is particularly groovy for the poor, because the tax cuts for people who do actually pay taxes benefits the poor, who never had to pay taxes in the first place!

I keep hoping that, one day, all liberals would have an epiphany and suddenly say, "Hey! What have we been smoking all these years? Everything we have ever believed was a big old lie! Why didn't someone stop us?" One lives in hope, eh?
