on this day, a traitorous peanut farmer was born

October 1, 1924---James Earl Carter, failed president and successful traitor to the United States, was born in Plains, Georgia. There truly haven't been very many natural-born U.S. citizens who have caused as much damage to this country as has Jimmy Carter. Let's chronical his "achievements".
1. During the Carter administration, America battled double-digit inflation, unemployment, and interest rates. Carter's response was to go on national TV and tell America that we just had to get used to our national malaise. Great leadership, Jimmy!
2. Carter completely failed in his pathetic, half-hearted attempts to secure the release of the 70 American hostages who were in captivity for 444 days. This particular incident should serve as the classic, textbook example of the liberal, talk-talk-talk-with-terrorists strategy that all liberal wing nuts like to tout as being so successful. Ask the wizard for a brain, liberal scarecrows!
3. Jimmy Carter has become one of the world's most vocal defenders of the terrorist group Hamas. This is the same terrorist organization that has called for the nuclear destruction of Israel. Carter admits that Hamas may consist of "so-called terrorists", but he celebrates the fact that there have never been any "complaints of corruption against their elected leaders." I'm sure that is very comforting to Israel!
4. After the death of Fatah terrorist Yasser Arafat, Carter praised him as "a powerful human symbol" who "provided indispensable leadership to a revolutionary movement." During Arafat's life, Carter worked tirelessly to help the murderous thug raise the funds necessary to carry out the Jewish extermination program that Arafat had pledged himself to.
5. Carter was closely allied with Samir Vincent, a key figure in the U.N. food-for-oil scandal that was directly responsible for the deaths of so many innocent Iraqi women and children. Carter helped make that program happen, so the blood of those innocent people is on his hands.
6. Carter has never met a murderous dictator that he didn't like. The Treasonous peanut Farmer has traveled the globe to speak out against the United States as he cozied up to such Boy Scouts as Fidel Castro, Marshall Tito, Nicolae Ceausescu, Edward Gierek, and Raoul Cedras. In each case, Carter has praised the murderous dictator and lashed out at the "oppressive American policies" that so offend these murderous dictators. Nationally syndicated columnist Jonah Goldberg has a great quote about Carter--"So yes, it's unfair to say that Jimmy Carter was history's greatest monster. But it's a safe bet that if Carter could shake the hand of history's greatest monster, he'd leap at the opportunity."

How are you going Hondo? The gadfly from Down Under here to challenge your conservative dogma. You righties like to talk about how liberals hate George Bush. (Most will deny it, but I DO hate him!) However, doesn't this post show a hatred for Jimmuh? And he's more of a Christian than Bush. He never did cocaine or was alcoholic or started wars that resulted in the deaths of more than 100,000 people. But you and others on the right wing harbor this hatred. How do you justify that as a Christian?

Speaking of justification, how do you justify the Republican Congressional leadership covering up the child sexual predator in their midst? As an educator, as someone who wants to protect children, doesn't it disgust you that the powers in your party knew that Foley was a perv and hid it? Makes you want to vote for third-party candidates in November, eh? But I'm sure it doesn't. I don't get Rush or Fox "News" here, so I'm curious to hear how this isn't so bad; how it's all the fault of the liberals, and Bill Clinton is to blame. Perhaps it's because of how he lowered the nation's moral standards...

It never ceases to amaze me how liberals are so quick to label any speech they disagree with as "hate speech." It is one of the main liberal strategies for stifling dissent. "If you criticize a liberal, that is hatred." Poppycock! As an American, I have an absolute right to criticize the tratorous speech and actions of a former (failed) president. That's in the 1st Amendment, Bukko. Familiarize yourself with it. As a Christian, I have an absolute obligation to speak out against evil. Jimmy Carter, through his speech and actions, continually tears down this great country that was founded on the Christian principles he professes to believe in. He then goes a step further by supporting every murderous dictator and terrorist in the world that seeks to kill all Christ-loving, freedom-loving person in the world. He then goes one step further by actively seeking to give aid and comfort to the enemies of our country, by undermining our efforts to defeat those enemies, and by celebrating when our brave soldiers are defeated. Jimmy Carter is free to criticize American policy all he wants. I have no problem with that. What he is not free to do is to actually take sides with our enemies and to assist them in a way that endangers American lives. That's called treason, it's evil, and I will take every opportunity to criticize it.
Compare that to the actions of Pres. Bush. You say that Bush isn't a Christian because he is a reformed substance abuser? You obviously don't understand Christianity. Bush has repented of his sins, asked God for forgiveness, and God has forgiven him. Carter continues to sin with no sign of remorse. It is not my role to judge him; God will do that. It is my job to criticize his speech and actions.
You say that Bush started this war with Iraq? Wrong! The U.N. passed resolutions stating that if Hussein didn't disarm, military action would be taken against him. He didn't openly disarm. The intelligence reports that said that Iraq had WMD were viewed by the Republicans and Democrats on the Intelligence Committees in both houses of Congress, by the national security and defense personnel in both the Clinton and Bush administrations, and by both Clinton and Bush personally. All agreed that Iraq had WMD, that they were a clear and present danger and that Hussein must be removed from power. The GOP and the Democrats in Congress then agreed, based on that information, to invade Iraq. Don't try to rewrite history with your liberal lies. And don't use some bogus "100,000 dead" figure to distort the truth. And finally, don't blame any of the actual number of deaths on Bush. If the Islamofascist terrorists would lay down their arms and let the freedom-loving Iraqis peacefully vote on the direction they want for their country, the bloodshed would stop. Of course, liberals don't see it that way. Liberals support the terrorists. Which gets back to my right and my obligation to confront and expose evil.

I can't claim I've ever read anything more delusional in my life. To insinuate that Jimmy Carter is evil? not a good christian? Here's a man who works tirelessly on the behalf of the meek. I'm an agnostic on a good day, but isn't that what is at the core of christian belief? Yes he meets with dictators but you fail to mention what he speaks to them about - human rights! trying to achieve peace through negotiation is not an act of treason.

How can you possibly believe that Bush is sincerely a good christian, or for those of us with less biased spiritual beliefs a good human. He's about as sincere as Tom Delay saying that people should see Jesus in his smiling mugshot. His failures as a president? let me count the ways...

Iraq. Clearly you believe we should be there, because we are soooooo concerned that Iraq should have democracy and that the death toll is justified if inflated - I can't speak to the accuracy of the numbers but I do know a great many people, Americans and Iraqis have died during this conflict. I can also safely say that many american companies have made a lot of money reconstructing what we have destroyed... who picks up the tab? We do of course. Of course the kicker is that many, many people in the region still don't have basic utilities like electricity and clean water.

If Jimmy Carter never met a dictator he didn't like, Bush never met one he didn't want to bomb or install into power covertly.

No child left behind? shouldn't that read EVERY child left behind? How can an educational system function when it is being forced to simply coach students to pass tests?

Energy policy? under this administration, we've seen our consumption of fossil fuels skyrocket above and beyond our already outrageous usage. People are outraged by paying 3.50 at the pump... I say make it 6 like it is in most of the free world. Maybe I'd have to look at one less fat ass on my next trip to Vegas because people would consider biking to work. But of course that's the tip of the iceberg, we've seen all manner of environmentally damaging policy. This CONservative governMENt couldn't even admit that humans are contributing to global warming. Yet the president has the gall to call himself a "good steward of the land".

Then there's Katrina. Mr. Bush and friends actively blocked a plan proposed by the city of New Orleans to rebuild the marshland. These weren't tree huggers who were supporting this. These were businessmen, scientists, dare I say it even republicans. They had predicted the fate of New Orleans almost perfectly in the countless simulations they had run. But, you can always argue that hindsight is 20/20... then what about the bungling once it occured and the prez then going on TV saying what a great job Brownie had done. I mean this was Homeland Security? These are the people who will protect us from another 9/11? There are people still suffering greatly from what happened in New Orleans, people that the president promised to help when it was politically beneficial for him to make such statements but are still waiting for that help to arrive.

I live in New York, Brooklyn to be exact. I remember my dad taking me to the construction site as the towers were being built. I was in lower Manhattan on September 11 and I will never forget that day. I remember watching in horror as I saw the towers collapse. I remember thinking that my friend might be dead because I couldn't reach him for a day. I remember seeing a silent army walking up Broadway, covered in white ash. On September 12th the whole world was with us, but more importantly we felt united as a nation. Ordinary people reached out in every way they could, we gave blood, we helped organize relief, we did everything we could to help. It sickens me that Mr. Bush and his cronies have squandered that opportunity to build a better America. They have used September 11 as a political tool to beat the populace into fear and submission. People like you gave them a blank check to wage a perpetual Orwellian war with no enemy and no end, because there is nothing to lose and everything to gain politically from this so called "War on Terror".

So you say Jimmy Carter is evil? Wake up.

Here is another teachable moment, presented by Satanopoulus. When a liberal is presented with indisputable conservative fact, they ignore those facts, change the subject, and rev up the personal attacks. In his comment, Satanopoulus never did defend Carter (probably because Carter's actions are indefensible). He just changed the subject and attacked Bush. Satanopolous--if you would like to reply back with some comments more on topic, meaning comments that defend Carter, feel free to visit again.

I am insulted, I'm way too left to be a liberal ;)

My post was a response not only to your original post but to your rebuttal to Bukko where you stated:
"Compare that to the actions of Pres. Bush. You say that Bush isn't a Christian because he is a reformed substance abuser? You obviously don't understand Christianity..." and go on to defend Mr. Bush as a christian.

You go on to say "In his comment, Satanopoulus never did defend Carter (probably because Carter's actions are indefensible)." Well I've never been too shy to throw down.

0. Jimmy Carter served honorably in the United States Navy. He attended the U.S. Naval academy from 1943 to 1946 (graduating with distinction a year early). He stayed on with the navy till 1953, retiring shortly after his father died to manage his family estate. He was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant.
During his presidency he formed the Department of Energy and enacted strong environmental legislation in an effort to lessen our dependency on fossil fuels and promote a more sustainable power supply (Reagan's first act in the White House was tearing down the solar panels). He appointed record numbers of women and minorities to significant government and judicial posts.
Foreign policy wise, Carter was the architect behind the Camp David Accords and the Panama Canal Treaties. He created full diplomatic relations with China, negotiated SALT II and promoted human rights through the office of the presidency.

1. Yes it's true that Carter did not release the hostages but maybe you've heard of this thing called "The October Surprise". That's the rumor/theory that the republicans cut some pretty dirty deals in Paris with the Iranians to keep those hostages exactly where they were till the elections were over. Of course all of this is hard to prove. What is easy to prove is that in the following months after the inauguration of Ronal Reagan large quantities of spare parts and armaments flowed from the U.S. to Iran via Israel.

2. It's also true that during the Carter administration the nation faced double digit inflation, but many of the policies that eventually lowered inflation from 11.3 in 1979 to 6.2 in 1982 were actually instated in 1979 by Paul Volcker, effectively tightening the belt. It's also pretty unfair to blame the performance of the economy on politicians since their role is limited in these matters. Did Reagan cause Black Monday? Did Bush cause the recession that we are just beginning to dig out of? For that matter did Clinton and Gore cause the economic boom of the 90's, Gore can hardly manage his own finances. It's a bit unfair don't you think?

3. In regard to Carter and Hamas these were Jimmy Carter's exact words on the subject..."If you sponsor an election or promote democracy and freedom around the world, then when people make their own decision about their leaders, I think that all the governments should recognize that administration and let them form their government," do these sound like the words of a lunatic? Democracy and freedom are a messy business, and the good guys don't always win (like for instance in America).

4. Yasser Arafat is not a saint but he is not a demon either, he is a man. Just for half a second imagine yourself to be a palestinian. Just put yourself in those shoes. Great Britain occupies your nation in a mandate which is supposed to be temporary until Palestine becomes a truly independent nation, but instead the brits turn around and refuse to leave for 30 years. They then basically donate your land to honor commitments they made to the Zionists to form a jewish nation. Sure they hide behind the UN, but that's basically how it went down. If they were so concerned for the Jews, why didn't they give them Scotland?
Wouldn't you defend your home by any means necessary? I would. I'd use every dirty trick in the book. In fact I can think of another country who engaged in terrorist activities to gain its freedom, their leader was George Washington. If you think they weren't "terrorists" go back and read the texts, in particular read about Francis Marion "The Swamp Fox".
So back to the point, Carter was right, Arafat "provided indispensable leadership to a revolutionary movement." Do I want to see innocent people die on either side? of course not, but to think that either side is "right" seems an oversimplification.

5. "Carter was closely allied with Samir Vincent". This is a gross exaggeration. According to the Times... “an Iraqi-American businessman who pleaded guilty this week to secretly lobbying influential Americans on behalf of Saddam Hussein pursued contacts with Democrats like former President Jimmy Carter and Republicans like Jack Kemp, the former vice presidential candidate, government officials said Friday. The businessman, Samir A. Vincent, is now cooperating with a federal investigation into corruption in the United Nations oil-for-food aid program for Iraq. He pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges that he had pocketed millions in hidden oil profits in exchange for helping the Iraqi government in its efforts to end economic sanctions imposed in 1990.”
When did it become against the law to meet someone?
By the way I fault Carter for not trying harder to get those ridiculous sanctions lifted. Sanctions that killed hundreds of thousands of people. It was clear to anyone that if Iraq had WMDs at that point, they were scarce and probably non-functional, (I know I'll catch hell for this but...) Chomsky was saying it for years. When we finally got there we found out that lo and behold there just weren't any WMDs left... what a surprise.

6. "The Treasonous peanut Farmer has traveled the globe to speak out against the United States as he cozied up to such Boy Scouts as Fidel Castro, Marshall Tito, Nicolae Ceausescu, Edward Gierek, and Raoul Cedras."

You forgot to mention Chavez. Look, this is Carter's strength... finding common ground. Could anyone else have made Camp David happen? Begin and Sadat couldn't stand to look at each other in the eye at the beginning of those talks. You don't promote peace and human rights by shoving it down people's throats. You talk. You exchange ideas. You try to avoid war, sometimes you can't but it should be the last option not the first. As a self proclaimed Christian and lover of Jesus you should appreciate Carter's effort to see the humanity in everyone... isn't that what Jesus would do?
