children and the kingdom of god

People were bringing little children to Jesus to have Him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And He took the children in His arms, put His hands on them and blessed them.
Mark 10:13-16

Parents, we have a sacred duty to bring our children to Jesus. This is a responsibility we cannot fail at, because nothing is more important than the eternal salvation of our children.

Today I heard it mentioned in a presentation that a vast majority of those that come to Christ do so before the age of 20. It is so very important that we treat our family as our FIRST mission field!

In fact, if we follow the OT example, the second generation of Christians should be the natural extension of God's covenant with his people. this is the essense of what we Reformed folk call "covenant theology."
