liberal hypocrisy/liberal dishonesty--it is liberalism that opposes the bill of rights

The dictionary defines "liberal" as favorable to or in accord with concepts of maximum individual freedom possible, esp. as guaranteed by law and secured by governmental protection of civil liberties. I laughed when I read that definition, because there isn't anyone in America more opposed to the Bill of Rights or our civil liberties than the modern American liberal.

Look at the 1st Amendment: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances." Modern liberalism opposes each and every one of those freedoms. I'll explain.

Establishment of religion. Modern liberalism has established secular humanism as America's official state religion. According to www.secularhumanism.org/ (website for The Council For Secular Humanism), "Secular humanism is a way of thinking and living that aims to bring out the best in people so that all people can have the best in life. Secular humanists reject supernatural and authoritarian beliefs. They affirm that we must take responsibility for our own lives and the communities and world in which we live. Secular humanism emphasizes reason and scientific inquiry, individual freedom and responsibility, human values and compassion, and the need for tolerance and cooperation." The website goes on to say that "the Council for Secular Humanism campaigns for a more secular and ethical society. It presents the case for understanding the world without reference to a god, and works to separate Church and State (my emphasis) and defend the rights of people who do not accept religious beliefs." Also, "The Council For Secular Humanism promotes rational, human-based viewpoints on important social and ethical issues. In particular, it tackles issues where traditional religion obstructs the right to self-determination, for example, freedom of choice in sexual relationships, reproduction, and voluntary euthanasia. The Council also promotes critical thinking about supernatural and paranormal claims." Look through that definition of secular humanism (in their words, not mine) and see how this speaks to such issues as abortion, gay marriage, eugenics, and global warming. Also, note the phrase "separation of church and state." This is the liberal, secular agenda and it has been mandated to be the law of the land by the modern liberal, acting through their agents of change in the federal judiciary. Secular humanism, contrary to the vision of our Founding Fathers, has been established as our national religion. Liberals say they support freedom. Liberal hypocrisy, liberal dishonesty--liberalism is fundamentally opposed to the Bill of Rights.

Free exercise of religion. The federal courts say that expressions of Christian faith are illegal in the schools. The federal judiciary says that government officials may not pray in the name of Jesus publically on government property. The federal judiciary says that the Ten Commandments may not be displayed on government property. The federal judiciary says that Christians may not freely exercise their religious beliefs without time and place restrictions imposed by the federal judiciary. The modern liberal agrees with this unconstitutional restriction of our rights. Liberals say they support freedom. Liberal hypocrisy, liberal dishonesty--liberalism is fundamentally opposed to the Bill of Rights.

Freedom of speech. Conservative speakers on college campuses are violently attacked in order to prevent them from speaking. Conservative newsletters on college campuses are burned by the "liberal", "freedom loving" opposition. Liberals want to pass the horribly misnamed "Fairness Doctrine' in order to destroy conservative talk radio. Liberals are in favor of hate speech legislation, so that it becomes illegal to ever utter a conservative thought. Liberals say they support freedom of speech. Liberal hypocrisy, liberal dishonesty--liberalism is fundamentally opposed to the Bill of Rights.

Freedom of the press. An Indianapolis Star reporter (James Patterson) is fired for writing an opinion column stating that homosexuality is deviant behavior. The same newspaper employs a columnist (Sheila Seuss Kennedy) who calls Christians "backwards" and "superstitious" and "unenlightened" and "ignorant" (her words, directly quoted). Liberal Democrat Harry Reid threatens to go after ABC television if ABC doesn't make content changes to an upcoming show about Bill Clinton's role in allowing 9/11 to happen. Freedom of the press is a wonderful thing, so long as it doesn't hurt one of the Patron Saints of Liberalism! Liberals say they support freedom of the press. Hogwash!

I could go on. There are two other 1st Amendment rights that liberals oppose. They adamantly oppose the 2nd Amendment. The Clinton administration violated the 4th Amendment so many times, it's hard to keep track (Waco, Elian Gonzales, warrentless domestic wiretapping after Oklahoma City, warrantless gun sweeps in public housing projects, and I could go on). Clinton actually made the following statement on MTV on April 19, 1994:

“When we got organized as a country and we wrote a fairly radical Constitution with a radical Bill of Rights, giving a radical amount of individual freedom to Americans, it was assumed that the Americans who had that freedom would use it responsibly. …
“But it assumed that people would basically be raised in coherent families, in coherent communities, and they would work for the common good, as well as for the individual welfare.
“What’s happened in America today is, too many people live in areas where there’s no family structure, no community structure, and no work structure. And so there’s a lot of irresponsibility. When personal freedom’s being abused, you have to move to limit it (
my emphasis). That’s what we did in the announcement I made last weekend on the public housing projects, about how we’re going to have weapon sweeps and more things like that to make people feel safer in their communities.”

Take a look at www.cato.org/pubs/pas/pa-271.html to see just how badly Clinton damaged so many of our fundamental freedoms.

Don't believe the liberal lies about their supposed love affair with our civil liberties. Liberals view the Bill of Rights as just one more campaign promise to break.
