Why does the Republican Party zealously pursue policies so obviously counter to the best interests of ordinary Americans?
Since the New Deal, Republicans have been on the wrong side of every issue of concern to ordinary Americans; Social Security, the war in Vietnam, equal rights, civil liberties, church- state separation, consumer issues, public education, reproductive freedom, national health care, labor issues, gun policy, campaign-finance reform, the environment
and tax fairness. No political party could remain so consistently wrong by accident.
The only rational conclusion is that, despite their cynical "family values" propaganda, the Republican Party is a criminal conspiracy to betray the interests of the American people
in favor of plutocratic and corporate interests, and absolutist religious groups.
Let's do this quickly, Ron.
1. Republicans are for lower taxes because history shows that every single time taxes are cut, all economic indicators improve and all Americans have more money in their pockets. Democrats are opposed.
2. Republicans freed the slaves, passed the Civil War Amendments to the Constitution, got Civil Rights legislation passed in the 60's, and passed the modern tax cuts that have led to black unemployment being at an all-time low and black ownership of business being at an all-time high. Democrats oppose.
3. Republicans support choice in education (vouchers) because that has proven to be effective in improving education for all children, especially black children. Democrats oppose. However, Democrats are in favor of choice when it comes to abortion, because abortion has proven to be effective in killing black babies.
4. Republicans opposed surrender in Vietnam because we knew thousands would die if we did. We were right, you were wrong.
5. Democrats support the current Social Security system even though all clear-thinking Americans know that it will be bankrupt in our lifetime. How positively compassionate and intelligent of y'all!
6. Civil liberties? Democrats support the unlimited ability of government to seize private property. Democrats support the 1st Amendment-violating McCain/Feingold law. Democrats support government restriction of religious expression. Democrats support 2nd Amendment-violating gun laws. Don't talk to me about civil liberties!
7. Democrats support socialism, even though socialism makes people poor and government rich.
I could go on, but I won't. Your comment that the GOP is a criminal operation gives you away as a card-carrying member of the lunatic fringe on the left, and further discussion on my part would be futile.
