I realize none of us liberals rose to the challange of your question about the attraction of Obama as a candidate, but is it really fair to characerize him as Rodney King because he is preaching a positive message and reminding us that despite our differences, we are "one people." That we are Americans. I can't see a negative message in that.
I agree, liberal reader. It's not a negative message. I didn't say that it was. I think that the point the author of the column was trying to make is that Obama is an empty suit who mouths empty words signifying nothing. That may be an accurate assessment, but it certainly doesn't make him any different from about a million other politicians!
